Signs of weakness are emerging. The U.S. unemployment rate stood at 4.1% in February, higher than in previous years, and consumer expectations around job security have deteriorated.
In its March economic projection, the Federal Reserve upwardly revised the unemployment rate from 4.3% to 4.4% for 2025.
The University of Michigan's Survey of Consumers found that 66% of respondents in March expect unemployment to worsen over the next 12 months—the highest share in the past 10 years.
“It's 14% higher than it was in the first two months of the COVID-19 pandemic,” the report highlighted, suggesting that consumer fears about job losses could soon impact their spending decisions.

COPENHAGEN, Jan 29 (Reuters) - An opinion poll indicated that 85% of Greenlanders do not wish their Arctic island - a semi-autonomous Danish territory - to become a part of the United States, with nearly half saying they see interest by U.S. President Donald Trump as a threat.
The survey by pollster Verian, commissioned by the Danish newspaper Berlingske and Greenlandic daily Sermitsiaq, showed only 6% of Greenlanders are in favour of their island becoming part of the U.S., with 9% undecided.
The poll showed that 45% viewed Trump's interest in Greenland as a threat, with 43% saying they see it as an opportunity, leaving 13% undecided.
Greenland enjoys many of the same welfare benefits as Denmark such as universal healthcare and free education.
Only 8% of those polled said they would be willing to change their Danish citizenship to American, 55% said they would prefer to be Danish citizens, and 37% were undecided.

The Federal Reserve’s preferred inflation gauge showed prices in February rose more than expected, re-intensifying the central bank’s inflation battle at a time when it expects new tariffs from the Trump administration to push prices higher.
The new reading makes it more likely that officials hold rates at current levels for longer as policymakers look for signs of how President Trump's policies will affect the US economy in the months ahead.

US stock futures fell on Sunday as investors braced for the broadest set yet of President Trump's tariffs to be enacted this week, including an April 2 bonanza that Trump has taken to referring to as “Liberation Day.”
Futures linked to the Dow Jones Industrial Average (YM=F) dropped by 180 points, or 0.4%, while S&P 500 (ES=F) and Nasdaq 100 futures (NQ=F) fell by 0.7% and 1.1%, respectively.
