Vegan egg companies are boosting production, expanding distribution and planning to cut prices to take advantage as chicken egg costs hit new highs.

(Bloomberg) — Surging egg prices and shortages in the US have created a big opportunity for vegan substitutes made with ingredients such as mung beans.

Vegan egg companies are boosting production, expanding distribution and planning to cut prices to take advantage as chicken egg costs hit new highs.

At Eat Just Inc., sales in January jumped by five times from the same period a year earlier. The company is ramping up production of its Just Egg products, which can be found at retailers such as Whole Foods and Walmart.

The closely held firm uses mung beans and canola oil in its egg alternative, which comes in liquid form and a folded version that can be toasted. At retailers, Just Egg sales have accelerated, with one major chain, which the company declined to name, posting weekly gains on a year-over-year basis as high as 70%.

“This is probably the most important moment for a plant-based market,” Josh Tetrick, Eat Just’s chief executive officer, said in an interview.

Wheat prices rally on easing tariff fears, cold US weather and strong export

Wheat futures (WHEAT) on Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) rallies almost 3.5% today to $600 resistance zone, which is the highest number since September 2024. Easing tariffs risks, strong export sales and higher inflation numbers with unfavorable weather among few key US wheat, but also rising prices of corn support bullish reaction among wheat traders.

Temperatures across key agricultural regions in the United States are forecast to plunge below average during the week beginning. It's significant risk to winter wheat and barley crops — especially in areas lacking adequate snow cover for insulation. Also, Money managers in the week ended February 4 slashed their net short in CBOT wheat futures and options by more than 20,000 contracts to 90,442.

Я живу в одном из самых дорогих регионов в стране. И даже у нас в супере можно купить яйца за 6.99 и их навалом. Каким же надо быть неищебродом и неудачником чтобы из-за повышения цень за дюжину яиц на 2-3 доллара? рассматривать "вегетарианские альтернативы"? С другой стороны, это скорее всего булшит для лохов и для кликов.

Каким же надо быть неищебродом и неудачником чтобы из-за повышения цень за дюжину яиц на 2-3 доллара? рассматривать "вегетарианские альтернативы"? С другой стороны, это скорее всего булшит для лохов и для кликов.
