По умолчанию -- нет. Но в большинстве случаев, ваша персональная автостраховка защитит вас когда вы за рулём любого автомобиля: собственного, рентованного, взятого у друзей и т.д. Но нужно удостовериться у вашего агента или почитать полиси, т.к. редко, но из этого правила бывают исключения.
Страховка вашего автомобиля не покрывает вашу ответственность за рулём другого автомобиля. Страховка владельца автомобиля покрывает всех, кто водит этот автомобиль. Рентал от коммерческой компании покрывается вашей страховкой в виде исключения.
I just chatted with my insurer (Progressive) because of all the confusion on Turo insurance over the internet and I wanted to rent from a host.
Like your rep, mine was very helpful and first had me clarify that I wanted to rent as a guest and not rent out my own car as a host.
As a guest, my auto policy contract is quite clear that my coverage (liability and comprehensive/collision damage) does transfer to a non-owner passenger vehicle, such as a Hertz rental car, a Turo car, a friend's car, etc. Even if the value of the car I'm borrowing/renting is higher than the one on my policy, my comprehensive/collision coverage applies with the same deductible. I assume that if insurance did have to pay out for expensive damage on a valuable car I happened to be driving, premiums would go up by quite a lot.
As a host, my policy wouldn't cover anything since I would be using my car for business purposes that are excluded in the contract. I think this is where most people on Turo run into trouble, and insurance on the host side is a very different beast.
I do have a credit card with a rental collision damage waiver, but that benefit does explicitly exclude p2p car sharing services. I think Turo's scary language when declining coverage as a guest does accurately point out that CC benefits likely won't apply, but it seems to over-exaggerate that your auto policy "may not" apply.
